Postcards From The Coast - Vol. 2

Hello again!

It's the shortest month of the year; this might end up being the shortest postcard of the year.

I love February. Shrove Tuesday, for the pancakes obviously, Valentines Day, I can play all my favourite love songs, no one bats an eye, oh and my birthday happens to be towards the end of Feb. And this year it was a little bit of a scary one.

Thankfully with much love and messages from family and close friends as well as being spoilt, I made it through (mostly unscathed).

Anyway, I digress, you’re probably here for music updates!

February is another somewhat sleepy month in The South West and that has allowed progression in the recording department with the first demos of a new EP (this one doesn’t feel like it will be an album) really starting to take shape. I’m not one for revealing too much too soon but I can confirm my track ‘Run Free’ will finally make its way onto a record. In fact, most of the songs on this upcoming project I’ve been playing live over the last couple of years, and I felt like they have consistently garnered a strong positive reaction. My hope is that continues to be the case with the recorded versions but alas that is something partly beyond my control.

If you haven’t heard and would like a small taste of what’s coming up, I recorded an acoustic version of ‘Run Free’ at Whistlandpound reservoir with my friends over on The Runaway Sessions Youtube channel, you can watch that one there or just here on the home page.

It was such a fun session to film although it was one of those Devon days where the weather was unpredictable (basically every Devon day) and the wind was causing all sorts of havoc with microphones, so it took a little more thought than we previously envisaged. When we managed to find a sheltered corner, the skies settled, and we were really stoked with how it turned out.

In terms of live shows I’ve also played some very well attended gigs this month so a huge thank you those of you on the organisational side who gave me an opportunity to play, there is not much I love more!

To everyone I’ve caught up with or met at a show this month, thank you for your kindness and support, as always, it’s been a whole lot of fun. Hopefully we will meet again at another show soon.

Beyond that there is not too much more to say, I’ll catch up with you when I return from the mountains, with more stories and I’m sure more ideas to share. Until then, I hope you all have been going strong with last months goals and have a great month ahead, remember spring is just around the corner…

Upcoming Gigs:

13th March – The London Inn, Braunton

27th March – Tarko Lounge, Barnstaple

Postcard No. 2 – Saunton Sands, taken on the only proper sunny day so far this year (that day also happened to be my birthday!)
